The Ad Hominem ExperienceWhat’s the experience?
The initial consultation involves a senior member of the Ad Hominem team visiting your home, office, or any location convenient to you at the appointed time. They bring with them more than 900 suit and shirt fabrics (and accessories if required) for your leisurely perusal. The suit fabrics include Super 150s and 180s cashmere, silk mohair, and mink cashmere, as well as branded cashmere such as Valentino, Zegna, Dormeil and Holland & Sherry. The shirt fabrics include the highest grade of Pinpoint Oxford cloth and Superfine Italian cotton. A
number of detailed measurements are taken to ensure that the garment is
made to the exact specification of each client, and constructed in such
a way to emphasise their best features and hide their less desirable
attributes. Every detail is taken into consideration and the client is
involved in all decisions. It is up to each client how many buttons
they prefer, the length of the jacket, the addition of a ticket pocket,
contrasting stitching on the buttonholes, or perhaps their nickname
hand-embroidered in the lining of the jacket. There are over a hundred
different colours of linings to choose from- all in the highest grade
of silk. Furthermore, Ad Hominem specialises in limited-edition
linings in vibrant paisleys, bold florals, wild polka-dots and
individually-commissioned silk prints for the more flamboyant! This
consultation utilises our experience to offer detailed advice on,
amongst other things, shape, colour, style, and texture to suit your
shape, and the purpose the garment is required for. In bespoke
clothing we understand that symmetry and geometry are paramount;
balance and proportion are critical. Taking all these details into
account results in achieving a garment that is distinctively yours.Once the fabrics and design are chosen, we then help apply all the information to suit the budget requirements of each individual client. Once the order is confirmed, it is handed to the pattern cutter and master tailor, who have been responsible for more than 25,000 bespoke garments and have a career spanning 75 years between them. The thirty or so measurements and figuration details that were taken directly from the client at the consultation are used to create an entirely individual paper pattern which will be cut from scratch. This master pattern will be adjusted for future reference, ensuring that any further garments can be cut straight to finish- saving the client valuable time. Using the paper pattern, the cloth is cut and each item is completely hand made, using more than 60,000 hand stitches, even down to the last buttonhole. It takes more than 80 hours of manual work to complete a bespoke suit. Every garment made by Ad Hominem has all the hallmarks you would expect from traditional bespoke tailoring, and the final product will be a work of art that you can be truly proud of. Online Service This service allows our clients to buy bespoke shirts at their leisure through our online store. However, if you would like to use this service, one of the Ad Hominem team must have already taken your measurements. An appointment to be measured only takes about 30 minutes out of your day, and you can order you first shirt direct from a member of the Ad Hominem team. |
